Right smack in the middle of the most fun time of year, The Rooney/Dutton family has had a slight setback. My mom (Barbara) was diagnosed with agressive grade 4 adenocarcinoma of the lungs, both sides of the brain and the adrenal glands. As I'm sure you can imagine, this has been extremely difficult for all involved. Mom underwent brain surgery the day after diagnosis to de-bulk part of the mass that was applying pressure and weakening the left side of her body. She has recovered from that and is now getting stronger every day. She started physical therapy yesterday and will continue to do that until our trip to OHSU to meet with the neuro surgeon and the oncology team. At that time, we will find out if and what treatment is available for this type of cancer. Please think of our family as we travel up and down I-5.
